Mention the name “Tweetsie” and it conjures up memories for
all ages. It’s much more than a trip back into the Wild
West; it’s an interactive experience of music,
entertainment, tradition and rich in American history.
The Wild West theme park has added attractions over the years and
features live shows, amusement rides, the Deer Park zoo, concerts,
and reenactments. Hop aboard the train for a scenic three-mile
circuit through the mountains near Blowing Rock. Spend the day
walking the streets of a turn-of-the century town, learning about
the lives of cowboys, Indians and craftsmen of the past, or take a
scenic chairlift ride to Miner’s Mountain and pan for gold.
Tweetsie Railroad, North Carolina’s first theme park, is open on
weekends from May 4 through May 18 (Friday-Sunday), and seven days a
week starting May 25 through August 26. Then the park will be open
just on weekends again from August 31 through October 30, including
Labor Day. Tweetsie is located on Highway 321 between Boone and
